McDonald’s is introducing a beloved international McFlurry to the US.
The wait is finally over, America! McDonald’s beloved international dessert, the Kit Kat McFlurry, is launching in stores across the nation starting July 10. The U.S. version enhances the classic treat by incorporating flavors from a popular ice cream shop favorite. Named the Kit Kat Banana Split McFlurry, this new offering features the company’s signature soft serve mixed with real banana, crunchy strawberry-flavored clusters, and Kit Kat pieces. Plus, it’s thick enough to enjoy by the spoonful.
Fans in Australia may be familiar with similar flavors, as both a Kit Kat McFlurry and a Banana Caramel Pie McFlurry have seen multiple releases in Australian “Maccas” over the past four years. Locations in Japan and Germany have also introduced Kit Kat-themed McFlurries, while the U.K. has both a regular Kit Kat McFlurry and a Ruby Chocolate Kit Kat McFlurry featuring pink ruby chocolate. These variations have undoubtedly sparked jealousy among stateside fans eager to experience them.
Despite the jokes circulating on social media about the brand’s famously “broken” soft serve machines, many are expressing their enthusiasm to try the new McFlurry. One excited fan on Instagram commented, “Take allll my money,” while another joyfully remarked, “WHAT?! US?? It’s a miracle.”
What does the new McFlurry taste like?
While McDonald’s latest treat merges two popular ice cream favorites—a crunchy McFlurry with candy bits and a banana split—some voices on social media have raised concerns about the banana flavor. However, early tasters report that the banana taste is mildly present. In fact, Australian fans enjoyed the banana essence in that McFlurry. The dessert also includes Kit Kat’s classic milk chocolate-covered wafers, adding cocoa notes and the candy bar’s flaky texture to every bite.
The Kit Kat Banana Split McFlurry doesn’t have a syrup mix-in, which disappointed some taste testers hoping for a strawberry syrup or hot fudge, similar to the strawberry Kit Kat McFlurry launched in Japan in 2022. Nevertheless, a generous portion of fruit crumble ensures that each spoonful is crispy and sweet. Those who enjoyed last year’s Strawberry Shortcake McFlurry may notice similar flavors, as both feature aromatic strawberry clusters.
Some U.S. fans are drawing nostalgic links between this dessert and McDonald’s discontinued banana milkshake. This new release follows the Grandma McFlurry, which launched in May 2024 and celebrated butterscotch with a rich syrup and textured crumbles, highlighting the company’s return to nostalgic treats. The Kit Kat Banana Split McFlurry will only be available while supplies last, so it might be wise to grab one soon.
